Backups and restores

Backups protect your server from broken updates, accidental deletions, world corruption, and configuration mistakes.

Create a backup

Open Backups

Select Backups in the server sidebar.

Create the snapshot

Select Create Backup, give it a clear name, and start the backup.

Wait for completion

Do not restart the server or make major file changes while the backup is being created.

Restore a backup

Stop the server, open the backup’s action menu, choose Restore, and confirm the operation. Start the server after the restore completes.
Restoring replaces current server data with the contents of the selected backup. Download or create a fresh backup first if you may need the current files later.

Good backup habits

  • Create a backup before updating server software, plugins, mods, or modpacks.
  • Keep more than one restore point.
  • Download important long-term archives to a device you control.
  • Test critical restores before you depend on them.
