# Plugins, mods, and modpacks

The Sculk panel adapts its management tools to the server software you run.

## Plugins

Plugins run on server software such as Paper or Purpur. Install compatible `.jar` files into the `plugins` folder, then restart the server. Configure installed plugins from their generated folders.

## Mods

Mods require a loader such as Fabric, Forge, or NeoForge. Upload compatible mod files into the `mods` folder. In most cases, every player must install the same loader, Minecraft version, and client-side mod set.

## Modpacks

A modpack bundles a tested set of mods and configurations. Use the panel's modpack installer when available, or upload the pack's server files through SFTP.

<Warning>
  It is currently not possible to use both Plugins and Mods reliably on a server at the same time
</Warning>

## Compatibility checklist

* Minecraft version matches
* Correct loader and loader version
* Required dependencies are installed
* Client and server mod lists agree
* Enough memory is allocated for the pack
